Get Tested, Guam Gamers: COVID-19 Symptoms? Here’s Where to Go!

Hey, Guam! 🚀 If you’re catching a cough or feeling feverish, it’s time to grab your ID and head to one of the local testing sites. With a fresh supply of COVID-19 test kits rolling in, the island is making it easier for anyone showing symptoms to get tested. Whether you’re a console warrior or a mobile gaming champ, this week’s drive-thru and walk-up testing events are just for you.

Starting Tuesday, April 28, swing by the Astumbo Gym in Dededo from 3 to 6 PM. This spot is exclusive to residents from Dededo and Yigo. If you don’t live there but want to join the fight against COVID-19, hit up the same gym again on Wednesday, April 29, when testing opens up to all residents islandwide.

On Thursday, April 30, you can drop by the Mangilao Senior Center next to Santa Teresita Catholic Church for some testing action. From 3 to 6 PM, residents from central areas like Agana Heights and Tumon can get tested. Finally, on Friday, May 1, the Agat Senior Center will be ready to serve you from 1 to 4 PM. All testing is completely free, but don’t forget your ID!

Linda DeNorcey, the Director of the Department of Public Health and Social Services, is pumped about the expanded testing capacity. With around 1,413 testing kits available right now and more on the way, the island’s ability to test is climbing to a whopping total of 6,100! If you’ve got symptoms like a cough, sore throat, or even a loss of taste, you’re encouraged to check it out. Keeping our gaming community healthy is a team effort!

In addition to anyone feeling under the weather, the health department highlights the need for testing among those living in multigenerational homes. As we know, it’s all about looking out for our family members. Moving forward, there are plans to check on frontline workers and first responders, meaning the health of our island is being prioritized.

If you’re not planning to hit a testing event this week, remember your health is important, too! You can still reach out to your healthcare providers or call public health centers for testing options. Let’s keep our gaming and tech community safe while we gear up for the next big event—whether it’s the next raid or the latest Web3 adventure. Stay strong, stay healthy, and let’s boost our collective immunity! 💪
