AG’s ‘Meth Kills’ Campaign Hits George Washington High
Attorney General’s “Meth Kills, Be Smart, Don’t Start” Campaign Hits Home at GW High School
The battle against substance abuse just leveled up, thanks to Guam’s own Attorney General, Doug Moylan. His team rolled into George Washington High School recently, forcing a serious conversation about a topic that often goes overlooked in gaming communities: the dangers of meth and other substances. With their campaign, “Meth Kills / Be Smart, Don’t Start,” they’re reaching out to our youth, ensuring they understand that even the smallest choices can lead to huge consequences.
In a gym packed with over 300 ninth graders, Moylan and Deputy AG Gayoso laid down some hard truths. They didn’t sugarcoat the risks, pointing out how seemingly harmless activities like vaping or sipping on a drink can lead to trouble with the law—or worse. The message was clear: while gaming strategies can be complex, the choices you make in real life should be straightforward. Avoiding substances is just like dodging obstacles in a game; the wrong move can cost you dearly.
Moylan emphasized the importance of education as a frontline defense against the growing threat posed by substance use. He called out the so-called “death dealers” targeting students, not unlike how those scammy in-game ads lure unsuspecting players. The AG’s office is committed to equipping the next generation—our future champions—with the knowledge and skills needed to stay sharp and make the right calls. No one wants to see a buddy fall into the trap of addiction, and it’s heartening to see local leaders dedicated to prevention.
Shoutouts are due for Principal Dexter Fullo, Vice Principal Jonilee Serisola, and Teacher Renee Julia Blancaflor for stepping up and partnering with the AG’s office. Their support showcases that combating substance abuse isn’t just a government affair; it’s a community mission. Just as gamers unite in clans to conquer challenges, we must come together to safeguard our youth and inspire them to be better.
As the conversation about substance abuse heats up in classrooms, it serves as a reminder: just like you wouldn’t jump into a PVP without knowing your gear, you should never jump into risky choices without understanding the stakes. Let’s keep leveling up our awareness and support each other in navigating this real-world saga!
