Soliva Joins UOG Public Administration Faculty
UOG’s Newest Faculty Member: Soliva Ready to Inspire Future Public Servants
We’re all about leveling up at Pantheon, and the University of Guam (UOG) just powered up by welcoming Mary Kate Soliva back to campus as their newest Assistant Professor of Public Administration and Criminal Justice. This isn’t just any return; it’s a homecoming for Soliva, who has been making waves in the realms of public service and homeland security.
Soliva first hit the scene as a UOG student back in 2012, standing with peers on Marine Corps Drive, raising awareness about human trafficking following the Blue House Lounge case. That eye-opening experience ignited her passion for public service, turning her into a dedicated advocate for change. Fast forward to today, and she’s back, ready to share her wealth of knowledge with the next generation of changemakers.
Having earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in public administration from UOG, Soliva furthered her studies to earn a Doctor of Criminal Justice with a focus on homeland security from Saint Leo University. She’s got serious street cred, having served in the U.S. Army and rolled up her sleeves for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Ted Stevens Center for Arctic Security Studies. You can say she’s got the experience to help students navigate the ever-evolving landscape of public administration and criminal justice.
But don’t be fooled by her global experience—Soliva’s heart is still anchored in the sands of Guam. She’s committed to making a difference right here in our island community, teaching courses that connect real-world issues to the classroom. Her research on human trafficking and homeland security aligns perfectly with her mission: to inspire and equip the next wave of public servants who can handle any challenge thrown their way.
With Soliva back on campus, the future looks bright for UOG students. Whether you’re into gaming or otherwise, this is an exciting time for our community. As a proud Triton, she’s all about giving back and helping the next generation unlock their potential. So gear up, because education in Guam just leveled up with Soliva at the helm!
